ENDEMIC BIRDING TOUR
A five night birding tour to the lowland forests and high
ranges of the Western Ghats. Tropical rain forests have a
wealth of species living within them. In the hotspot areas
visited on this tour there are 450 known bird species, of
which 16 are endemic. Birds that you may encounter on this
tour include: nightjars, frogmouths, owls (including the
pot-bellied eagle-owl and bay owl), woodpeckers (including
white-bellied, heart-spotted and streak-throated),
yellow-billed babbler, red spur fowl, blue-bearded
bee-eater, Malabar grey hornbill, rufous babbler,
blue-faced malkoha, black-throated munia, white-bellied
tree pie, flycatchers (Nilgiri, black and rufous,
brown-breasted, white-bellied blue-tailed and
rusty-tailed), grey-headed bulbul, Nilgiri pipit, Nilgiri
wood pigeon, painted bush quail, Wayanad laughing thrush
and grey-breasted laughing thrush.
This tour gives you three nights at Thattekkad
(accommodation at Hornbill Camp) and two nights at Munnar.
The price includes full board accommodation, car transfers,
entry fees to parks and sanctuaries and a birding guide for
the whole trip.
