BANGARAM ISLAND
Bangaram is a small coral atoll with a jungle
centre, white coral sand running into a turquoise blue
lagoon. It is most peoples’ idea of the perfect tropical
island and it is of a size that means that you can
circumnavigate the whole island on a gentle evening
stroll. Bangaram is one of just three of the Lakshadweep
Islands that foreign visitors are allowed to visit.
Agatti Island is another and is the base for the island
group’s airport. You can see Bangaram from Agatti but
despite this the boat journey takes a couple of hours
because it is a local boat, not a speed boat. Bangaram
is uninhabited other than the resort but the local
people are allowed to visit, and regularly do so. |
