KERALA HOUSEBOAT CRUISE – A
RESPONSIBLE TRAVEL HOLIDAY
A cruise in a Kettuvallam (or rice barge) along the
backwaters of Kerala is often the highlight of a holiday to
this region. Most houseboat cruises are just a day or two –
but we are pleased to introduce this specially created six
night cruise, much of which takes a route very much off the
‘normal cruising channels’.

DAY 1
Board your houseboat around midday. The trip begins with a
cruise through Vembanad Lake. Visit Muhamma, coir making
and a village market.
DAY 2
Today's cruise takes you to Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary.
Cruise through the Akkathara narrow canal to Venattukadu.
Anchor at Paruthivalavu.
DAY 3
Visit Chavara Bhavan (A Shrine House of blessed Chavara
Kuriakose Elias). Continue through the Kuttamangalam narrow
canal. After lunch proceed to Pulincunnoo. Take a walk
through a village and visit St. Mary's Ferona Church.
DAY 4
Cruise through Pulincunnoo Puthen Thodu to Kavalam, then
through Kidangara. After lunch cruise through Muttar and
Neerattupuram.
DAY 5
Cruise to Mannar. Visit the local market - famous for its
household utensils made from brass and copper. After lunch
cruise to Thottappally and visit a local beach.
DAY 6
Visit Karumadi Kuttan, Sree Krishna Temple and Ambalappuzha.
After lunch cruise to Champakkulam. Visit a local Church, a
village market and snake boat. Anchor at Vembanadu Kayal
for the night.
DAY 7
Cruise to Alleppey. Disembark from the houseboat around
10:00. |

people travelling together and sharing a
double/twin room.

and finishing at the houseboat jetty – we therefore
anticipate that it will form part of a longer
holiday in Kerala.

few hours by road from the backwaters include
Cochin, the beach, Periyar and Munnar.
